Little Elms. Accommodation.

Hol hse to kitchenThe six chalets at Little Elms provide either studio or one bedroom accommodation for family members while they support a patient in the nearby hospital.  The chalets are fully furnished with towels, bedding and kitchen equipment supplied and there is a shared laundry on site.

The original aim of providing support for child cancer families has been widened to include families with other health issues too, including, for example, parents of babies in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

The hospital staff assess the need for accommodation and if it is deemed necessary they will organise for the support person to stay at Little Elms.

Chalet 1If certain criteria are met the cost of the accommodation is met by the Ministry of Health however in some cases the accommodation is provided charitably.

The Holiday House was primarily used by families who have been affected by child cancer to enjoy some time in Hawke's Bay at no cost.  Local businesses had been extremely generous in providing complimentary passes or discount vouchers so the families may also visit some of the local attractions.

Since 01 July 2020, the Holiday House (Known as Trask House in honour of Charlie Trask) is currently leased by the Hawkes Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust, for their Pilots and Paramedics to be off site.  So is now unavailable for CCF families to come and stay with us.
